Libyan Crimes Watch denounced "use of excessive force" and "arbitrary detentions" by the Anti-Illegal-Immigration Authority and Fursan Janzour Brigade of the Interior Ministry against immigrants conducting a sit-in outside the headquarters of UNHCR in Tripoli.

The organization said one immigrant was injured by gunshots and 600 others were detained, including women and children, denouncing use of force against the vulnerable and calling for urgent investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office to hold the ones responsible accountable for their actions and to release the detained.

According to legal organizations, immigrants have been staging sit-ins for months at the office of the UNHCR in Tripoli after a campaign by the Interior Ministry that targeted immigrants in Gergaresh neighborhood in the capital.
