The Libyan Coast Guard announced the rescue of 61 illegal migrants west of Tripoli, all of whom were aboard a rubber dinghy attempting to reach Europe.

The coast guard confirmed, on its official Facebook page on Saturday, that the illegal migrants were of various African and Arab nationalities and that they were disembarked at the Tripoli Naval Base landing point and subsequently transferred to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Service for processing and identification.

The coast guard confirmed that it would follow upon the process of caring for the individuals and completing the procedures for their safe deportation to their relevant countries, according to an official statement.
