31 illegal immigrants, including a child, were rescued by the Libyan Coast Guard on Wednesday, an official of the Libyan Navy Force said.

The immigrants were found stranded in the mid-sea aboard a wooden boat north of the coast of Zuwara, west of Tripoli.

Spokesman of the Libyan Navy, Brigadier-General Ayoub Qasim clarified that the immigrants were from Bangladesh and Ghana, noting that they were handed over to the Illegal Immigration Agency after providing them with humanitarian assistance.
