The Libyan Coast Guard has rescued 116 illegal immigrants, including 12 women and one child, north of the city of Zuwara, west of Tripoli, according to the Spokesman of the Libyan Navy Ayoub Qasim.

Qasim clarified in a press statement that the rescue operation was carried out by one of the oil fields rescue boats in cooperation with the Coast Guard, pointing out that the migrants were picked up from aboard a rubber boat.

"The migrants were from Bangladesh and other African and Arab nationalities,” Qasim clarified, noting that they were handed over to Al-Naser migrant centre in Zawiya after providing them with humanitarian aid.
