The Libyan Coast Guard said on Friday that its members managed to rescue 111 illegal migrants whose boat crashed north of the city of Zuwara in western Libya.

The head of the General Directorate of Coast Security, Colonel Tariq Shanbour, said that the migrants were of different African nationalities, including four children and two women.

The migrants were handed over to the Immigration Office in Zuwara, and the International Organization for Migration was informed of the rescue operation, he added.

The Coast Guard announced on Wednesday that they had saved 2017 migrants who were on board rubber boats near the coast of Qarabulli, eastern Tripoli.
