The central sector of the Libyan Coast Guard stated that they have had difficulties in rescuing or recovering illegal immigrants, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

The Coast Guard stated that the bodies of migrants who are pulled from the sea stay for long periods of time on the shore before being delivered to the relevant authorities, including a body of Eritrean migrant, which remained at Khoms Naval Base for four days.

The head of the central sector of Libyan Coast Guard, Colonel Reda Issa, said that the unit is vulnerable to epidemics and diseases when rescuing migrants or retrieving bodies as a result of not vaccinating them or providing them with the correct medical supplies.
