Member of the Presidential Council, the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, Abdullah Al-Lafi, has reiterated the council's support for the Counter-Terrorism Force, vowing to provide it with all necessary resources to enable it properly carry out its functions.

Speaking at a press conference from the force's HQ in Khums city on Sunday, Al-Lafi said, " The Counter-terrorist Force is part of the Libyan military institution that we seek to unify and be loyal to God, then the homeland, and will contribute to the stability of Libya."

He also expressed readiness for coordination to open other branches for the force across the region. "It would be the bulwark against spoilers attempting to destabilize the security and stability of the country, he said, referring to ISIS supporters.

The Counter-Terrorism Force consists of combatants from all over Libya. It was established in 2016 following the liberation of Sirte from the ISIS group.
