The Libyan Army announced on Thursday the withdrawal of its forces to a distance of five kilometres south of the coastal road in west of Sirte, which links the east and west of Libya.

The Commander of the Sirte-Al-Jufra Operations Room, Ibrahim Bait Al-Mal, said in a press statement that the withdrawal of the forces comes as part of the implementation of the order to reopen the coastal road and in accordance with the official agreement of the Joint Military Committee 5+5.

The coastal road remains closed despite the fact that the Libyan Army forces have opened it from their side, as Haftar’s militias still refuse to open the road from their side.
