Rome hosted Monday, the first meeting between the Libyan Archeology Department and the Italian archaeological missions operating in Libya, under the auspices of the Libyan Embassy in Rome, and in the presence of representatives of the Italian Foreign Ministry.

The meeting discussed the starting of restoration work for the cities of Leptis Magna and Sabratha, which is expected to commence in the coming period, in coordination between the two sides.

"The Italian side will provide training for the Libyan cadres interested in the field of antiquities, in order to increase their efficiency," the Libyan Embassy stated.
