Mitiga Airport management in Tripoli said a Libyan Airlines flight to Cairo Airport was postponed because the airliner couldn't obtain a landing permit from Egyptian authorities at the airport.

Libyan Airlines told Cairo-Tripoli flight passengers to go to Burg Al-Arab Airport in Alexanderia for the flight, which was supposed to mark the first one as part of the resumption of Libyan flights landing in Cairo as per the airliner's statement.

Meanwhile, Afriqiyah Airways resumed flights from Tripoli's Mitiga Airport to Cairo Airport on Thursday after eight years of suspension.

Egyptian newspaper, Al-Ahram, said Wednesday that Cairo Airport authorities were preparing for the landing of the first Libyan flights from a Libyan airport, saying two flights from Mitiga Airport would arrive on Thursday on Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways.
