Libya has won the membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council among 14 other countries elected by the General Assembly of the International Organization to succeed the outgoing members of the Council held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that the new members of the Human Rights Council were elected by a secret ballot for a three-year term, which will begin on 1 January 2020, where Libya won 168 out of 187 votes.
