Libya was among the topics on the table at a meeting between the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and members of the US Senate in Rome.

"Minister Di Maio welcomed a delegation from the US Senate led by Sen Chris Coons for an exchange of views on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Libya, Iran, and cooperation on climate change and the fight against the COVID pandemic," a statement by the Italian Foreign Ministry on Twitter disclosed on Friday.

On Thursday, Di Maio reaffirmed that Libya's unity and avoiding a military escalation is a priority for his country when dealing with the Libyan file.
