The Presidential Council Head Muhammad Menfi has ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to refrain from participating in the reconciliation forum called for by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which the latter invited a delegation from southern Libya to participate in the event planned to take place in Italy.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Menfi said that "By following up on the national reconciliation file, we learned that the ministry had prepared a delegation from the south to meet Italy’s invitation without prior coordination with the PC."

Menfi criticized the Italian approach and demanded the Libyan Foreign Ministry to abrogate its arrangements with the Italian side.

"This requires canceling the forum and informing them (the Italian side) of the necessity to respect the principles of internal sovereignty, observing good-neighbourly relations, and non-interference in the internal affairs of the state, the statement read.
