Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Sayala, has requested through an official letter the admission of Libya to the Latin American Integration Association.

In a statement Monday, the ministry explained that the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs handed over to the Secretary-General of the Latin-American Integration Association an official letter from Sayala, which included Libya's request to join as an observer in the association.

“The aim of the admission is to strengthen political communication with member states of the association and to gain benefits in several aspects, including the direct supply of agricultural goods and products to the Libyan market without the need to pass through intermediaries.” The statement reads.
