The Italian Interior Ministry disclosed Monday that Libya represents the second-largest source of illegal immigrants heading to Italy after Tunisia, which holds the largest number of migrants sailing from its territory.

Tunisia is the first source of immigrants coming to Italy by 36.8%, followed by Libya 22.3%, then Turkey with 21%, according to the Italian Interior Ministry's report.

The report pointed out that the number of migrants who arrived at the Italian borders between August 1, 2018, and July 31, 2019, amounted to 8,691 immigrants, among them, 1119 children and unaccompanied minors, according to the Tunisian newspaper Al-Sabah.
