The former spokesman for the administration of Ras Ajdir border with Tunisia, Hafez Muammar, confirmed the reopening of the border from the Libyan side upon instructions from the Minister of Interior.

The decision of the Interior Ministry to close the border earlier came after the mistreatment of Libyan citizens by Tunisian protesters in Ben Gardane town.

Tunisians from border villages have impeded the movement of Libyan travelers in order to pressure the Libyan authorities to allow them to smuggle subsidized goods through Ras Ajdir border.
