The German Foreign Ministry stated on Thursday that Libya will receive 300,000 doses of the Coronavirus vaccine by the end of next May.

The Ministry also added in a statement that this process will take place within the framework of the Covax initiative led by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The statement indicated that the federal government in Berlin has funded the Libyan health system with an additional amount of 9.5 million euros in 2020.

It is noteworthy that German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas arrived in the capital, Tripoli on Thursday, with his French counterparts, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Italian Luigi Di Maio, as part of the emphasis on European support for the new executive authority in Libya.
