The Deputy Head of the Arab and International Criminal Police Office at the Libyan Interior Ministry, Brigadier General Saeed Gharsallah has participated in the virtual meeting of the heads of the national liaison offices of the African Police Cooperation Organization (AFRIPOL) for North African countries.

The meeting focused on police efforts in dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic and how it has affected crime as well as terrorist operations.

Discussions also touched upon other priorities, including strengthening the role of AFRIPOL in North Africa.

The Arab and International Criminal Police Office of the Ministry of Interior started its work from its new HQ in Tripoli in early July. The office is working in conjunction with the INERPOL to include Libya in the I-ONE project for supporting African countries and for accessing the "Flyway" project for combating criminal networks involved in human trafficking in North Africa.
