The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Illegal Immigration Affairs, Mohamed Al-Shaibani, on Wednesday, held discussions with the Maltese Ambassador to Libya, Charles Saliba on the illegal immigration issue.

Al-Shaibani emphasized during the meeting, which took place at the Interior Ministry's HQ in Tripoli, the need to focus on cooperation and put agreements in place, in order to achieve concrete results with respect to this issue.

"It is of most importance to take advantage of the agreements signed between Libya and Malta in this regard, in the joint interests of both countries, and to concentrate on developing the performance of Libya's Coastal Guard members," the Interior Ministry noted.

The meeting concluded to work towards enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of dismantling explosives, and in this context, the Maltese Prime Minister representative expressed his country's readiness to provide full support in this aspect, by equipping the demining squad with the required tools, as well as offering training courses.
