Libya has received a polio-free certificate from the World Health Organization (WHO) for the year 2018, the National Centre for Disease Control has confirmed.

Dr Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, director of the centre, said that Libya is free from the disease, thanks to the national polio eradication program launched to eradicate the disease, in addition to the continued support of the centre to the program.

Al-Najjar praised the effective functioning of the monitoring and investigation program and the success of the vaccination campaign last year against polio, pointing out to the need to intensify efforts, in order to ensure the continued progress of the process, especially the polio eradication program.
