Libya Coast Guard has rescued more than 800 illegal immigrants in 24 hours, navy official declares.

Spokesperson of Libyan Navy Ayoub Qasim said in a press statement on Monday that the immigrants were of different African nationalities, including 3 Libyans and 3 Egyptians.

He said the Coast Guard rescued the immigrants in 2 separate operations; in the first one 361 immigrants on board 2 rubber boats were rescued. In the second rescue operation, 490 immigrants were rescued off Qarabulli town, east of Tripoli.

The rescued immigrants received medical aid before being transferred to Sikka Detention Center.
