The United Nations (UN) announced on Monday that the Government of National Accord (GNA) had officially requested the UN’s assistance in the ongoing investigations into the discovery of mass graves in the city of Tarhuna.

A Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haqq, said in a press conference that discussions are underway with the GNA regarding the kind of assistance the UN could possibly provide.

Haqq went on to intimate that the UN was negotiating with the GNA and Khalifa Haftar, regarding the launch of another round of the Joint Military Commission
