Libya’s new permanent representative to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, presented his credentials to Secretary-General, António Guterres, on Monday, at the UN's HQ in New York.

During his meeting with Guterres, Al-Sunni emphasized the importance of cooperation between Libya and the United Nations, in order to seek ways out of the current crisis and end Haftar's aggression on Tripoli, which undermined all international efforts to find peaceful solutions to the conflict.

He also insisted that statements of condemnations are not enough to address the suffering of civilians. "What is needed is an international consensus to stop this aggression," Al-Sunni stated, underscoring that a civil state and an end to the military rule is what Libyans aspire for.
