The Man-Made River Authority (MMRA) has reported a significant leakage in the water discharge valve near Khoms city after a resident tried to install an illegal connection.

Consumers receiving water supplies through the eastern line of the Al-Hasawna system will suffer low water pressure because of the leakage, says the MMRA.

It explained that the maintenance teams were unable to control the leak despite numerous attempts due to the high pressure of the water, which prompted them to reduce the water flowing in the eastern path.

It may be worth noting that the Ministry of Interior had launched a campaign to stop and cut off illegal links on the water transport path, on the instructions of the Public Prosecution, after it affected water supplies to the capital and other cities.
