The outbreak of a fire killed a large number of livestock and fowl in the fields of the city of Traghan in southern Libya in what is better known as ‘the Bouasit Forest’.

According to sources from the city, the blaze first began in a number of barns owned by citizens in the area at approximately 4pm, however, the winds contributed to the rapid spread of the fire to more than 20 barns, most of which were fenced in traditional palm leaved structures.

Traghan youths dealt with the emergency situation by simple means, by putting out the fire with the assistance of several workers in the area, however, most of the barns were totally destroyed in the absence of any fire engines in the city to help to contain the blaze.
