The departing UN envoy to Libya Jan Kubis renewed Sunday the UN's continued support for holding the presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya on schedule.

In a meeting with the Presidential Council (PC) Head, Muhammad Menfi, in Tripoli, Kubis said that the international community is looking forward to seeing Libya achieve the elections, hoping it will lead the Libyans to stability and peace.

He praised the PC's role "for making in the National Youth Conference a success" and its efforts to support the participation of young people in political life.

Meanwhile, the PC head said the Council is working relentlessly to ensure the presidential and legislative elections take place simultaneously by instituting every safeguard to ensure their free and fair conduct.
