The United Nations (UN) Envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, and the Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khalid Al-Mishri, discussed by telephone, Security Council Resolutions No. 2570 and No. 2571, both of which were recently adopted.
The two parties further discussed steps that should be taken by the relevant authorities in Libya in order to peacefully hold the expected general elections on December 24.
Kubis and Al-Mishri also touched on the preparation of the unified budget, in which the HCS clarified its position, which notedly has been presented to the concerned parties.
The two sides also reviewed the efforts made to resolve the issue of appointments to the sovereign positions, reiterating the necessity for full and honest respect for the independence of the judiciary system in the country.
