The Municipality of Khums has announced the reopening of the Khums Cement Factory of the National Company after introducing modern technical modifications to address the environmental pollution emitting from the cement manufacturing process.

New filters were installed to limit the emissions of dust and gas that results from the production process, the municipality has explained on Facebook.

"The National Company has taken this step as evidence of its commitment to protecting people living in areas located near the factory against risks of pollution," the municipality stated.

The reopening of the factory coincides with the celebrations for the 9th anniversary of the February 17 revolution.
