Khoms Municipality will host the second meeting of the Libyan World Heritage Municipalities on Saturday.
The five municipalities, Shahhat, Khoms, Sabratha, Ghadames and Ghat, will discuss the challenges facing these cities, their monuments and ways to preserve them under the current situations.
It was decided that the temporary presidency of the union should be handed from Shahhat to Khoms.
The five municipalities, which are classified as UNESCO World Heritage sites, have already established an association among the councils and meet periodically to discuss the protection of antiquities and their preservation from theft and sabotage.
