The Libyan government's envoy to the US Muhammad Abdullah has said that judge Leonie Brinkema of the Virginia Court had ordered Khalifa Haftar to comply with the plaintiff's request to give statements within two weeks.

Abdullah explained that the judge’s decision came after she rejected claims by Haftar's defence that he is immune from prosecution based on the Libyan Military Law and a decision by the Presidential Council (PC) Head Muhammad Menfi.

The Libyan authorities have denied issuing a note requesting the US authorities to exempt Khalifa Haftar, who holds US citizenship, from interrogation in the US.

Libya's Ministry of Defence published a clarification on its official page confirming that it had not issued any note in this regard and the memorandum circulated by the media is "incorrect."
