The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative, Marc-André Franche, signed on Sunday an agreement with the Chargé d'Affairs at the Embassy of Japan to Libya, Masaki Amadera, to support UNDP’s Promoting Elections for the People of Libya (PEPOL) project, in the presence of the Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh.

The PEPOL project, which is implemented in partnership with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), aimed at strengthen HNEC’s capacity to prepare for free, inclusive, and credible elections scheduled for December of this year.

During the signing ceremony, which was held at the HNEC headquarters in Tripoli, Al-Sayeh, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support provided by the Government of Japan and the UNDP, as part of international efforts to support the democratic path in Libya.
