ItaMilRadar, a website on military aircraft tracking in Italy and the Mediterranean, reported that it had tracked a USAF Boeing C-17A “Globemaster, known to be part of the United States, Air Force, which appeared to be on a reconnaissance mission close to Libya.
The US plane took off from Germany on Saturday evening, disappearing from all tracking sites over the central Mediterranean sea.
The nature of the flight remains unknown, ItaMilRadar added.
