The Italian special envoy to Libya, Pasquale Ferrara, said the executive authority leadership should be selected before going to national elections in December 2021.

According to an Italian newspaper, the special envoy said all major international stakeholders in Libya should have serious coordination and dialogue regarding the Libyan crisis, saying exerting unified efforts could lead the country to a political solution that saves its sovereignty.

Ferrara said regional stakeholders, especially neighboring states, could play an effective role in Libya, adding that international interests in Libya wouldn't be legitimate if they were at odds with Libyan people's interests, saying Libyans have been living in a lack of security for a decade.
