Italian Interior Minister, Luciana Lamorgese, has said that Rome will intensify its financial commitment to boost rural development with the aim of stabilizing southern Libya affected by intense migration flows.

Lamorgese confirmed on Friday her country's desire to develop the project implemented by the Ministry of the Interior regarding the southern Libyan borders in a concrete and rapid manner, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.

She also emphasized the depth of awareness of the strategic role played by Libya and Tunisia, in light of the recent developments they are witnessing, for North Africa and the Mediterranean as a whole.
