Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio has underscored that forces of Khalifa Haftar must not be allowed to enter Tripoli, saying that this would "ignite a bloody war".

"Italian government does not favour or work with a party against the other in the current armed conflict," Di Maio stressed.

In a briefing before the foreign and defense committees of the Italian senate and representatives with respect to the Berlin Conference outputs, Di Maoi emphasized that achieving stability in Libya is an Italian national interest.

He reaffirmed that Libya is a top priority regarding the terrorist threat, the immigration issue, and in the energy aspect as well, in addition to the importance of a stabled Libya to all neighboring countries that suffer from the Libyan situation.
