Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte has said that his government is the one to decide the fate of the agreement with the Libyan Coast Guard.

"By the time of the automatic extension of the agreement with Libya's Coast Guard, which will be in November, we will take stock of the matter and hold government meetings to assess the viability of this agreement," Conte was quoted as saying by Italian news agency AKI.

According to the agreement between Italy and the Libyan Coast Guard, which enjoys the EU support, the Libyan Coast Guard can intercept immigrants in the Mediterranean and return them to Libya.
