Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio has said that he did not sign the final statement of the foreign ministers meeting of the states of Egypt, France, Cyprus, and Greece in Cairo last Wednesday because it was "unbalanced" and against the Government of National Accord and Turkey.

Di Maio underscored in an interview with the Italian newspaper "Corriere della Sera" that Turkey is still a major ally of his country.

He called on all parties, especially the European Union countries, to be moderate in dealing with the Libyan crisis.
