Italian Defence Minister, Elisabetta Trenta reiterated her government's position on the Libyan crisis and on supporting the Government of National Accord (GNA), emphasizing the importance of reaching a political solution to the crisis.

During a joint hearing of the Italian House and Senate Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees, the minister said that Italy needs to bring all parties back to the negotiating table, stressing that all actors must be involved.

"Peace, achieved by arms, if not promoted by stable relations between concerned parties, will immediately lead to another war," the minister said.
