The Italian government disclosed Wednesday that it had sent more than 16 tons of medical supplies to Libya, as part of Italy's support amid the ongoing clashes in southern Tripoli.

The shipment comes within the efforts to address the state of health emergency in Libya, which was exacerbated by the continues clashes, in response to the needs of WHO, according to the Development Cooperation Authority of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It further clarified that the shipment, which originated from the emergency depot at the United Nations base at Brindisi, southern Italy, includes treatment for trauma and surgical tools, noting that it will arrive in Libya in the coming days.
