Italy said Friday it had formed a new operations room with Libya that is tasked with intercountry crimes such as smuggling and human trafficking.

Italy’s embassy in Libya said on Twitter “New control room against transnational crime, human smuggling and terrorism, set in motion today in Rome by Italy and Libya in presence of Interior Minister Marco Minniti. This room will result in enhanced judicial and police cooperation, strengthened rule of law, rights and guarantees, and increased information exchange.”
