The Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Marina Sereni, described on Tuesday, the Russian presence in Libya, Syria, and the African coast as "a factor of instability."

This came during a hearing of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies on the geopolitical framework of the Mediterranean.

Sereni stressed the need to reach a settlement on a stable and complete legitimate government in Libya, reiterating her country's support for a settlement based on a broad consensus.

She indicated that a political consensus would guarantee a government capable of leading the country towards elections, according to the Italian Nova news agency.
