Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has stressed the need to work on stabilizing Libya in order to confront migration crisis, saying the approach of Silvio Berlusconi's previous governments should be returned to managing the migration file.

Tajani added that Europe has lagged far behind on the Libyan front in implementing a common migration policy, indicating investment should start, but not only in Tripoli, also in sub-Saharan Africa.

He also talked about the mobilization of other foreign powers in Libya, adding "we need to avoid new colonization and strong alliances, by establishing mixed companies, through new diplomacy, to build infrastructure with our resources in exchange for low-cost raw materials."
