Italian Defense Minister, Lorenzo Guerini stated on Thursday, that the naval operation IRINI should focus on training Libyan Coast Guard.
The minister made it clear during his statements on Italian media, after the Security Council’s decision to extend the mission of the operation, “more focus should be placed on training the Libyan Coast Guard”, according to the Italian agency Nova.
Guerini also indicated that the European Union has a commitment in this regard, adding that Italy should focus on dealing with what he described as the great dynamics related to illegal migration.
