Italian Interior Minister Marco Minniti has claimed that about 25.000 to 30.000 foreigners of ISIS militants are preparing to infiltrate to Europe on migrants boats via Libya-Italy route.

In a press statement on Thursday, Minniti warned that up to 30,000 ISIS militants are on the run after their defeats in Syria and Iraq and that some may try to infiltrate Europe on migrant boats.

Minniti explained that this risk prompts Italy to play a greater role in monitoring the Libyan coast and desert borders.

“It is a national security priority,” he said.
