The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said it had provided emergency assistance to more than 300 illegal immigrants rescued by the Libyan Coast Guard in three separate rescue operations on Saturday.

On its Facebook page Sunday, the IOM clarified that the migrants returned to the Libyan shores after failing to make it to Europe across the Mediterranean Sea.

The Libyan Coast Guard rescued about 335 migrants near the Libyan coast, where they were provided with health and psychological services at Abu-Sittah naval base in Tripoli before being transported to Tajoura shelter.
