A group of 75 illegal immigrants drowned off the Libyan coast, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported on Saturday.

The UN organization explained that its report was based on the information it learned from the surviving migrants. They confirmed that their boat sank in the sea as they were heading to Europe via Libya.

Around 15 migrants were rescued and brought to shores in Zuwara city west of Libya.

More than 1,300 people have died at sea since the beginning of this year, according to the IOM.
