The Traffic and Licensing Department of the Ministry of Interior reported that 127 people died in motor vehicle crashes and 185 were seriously injured during January of this year, in all areas of Libya.

Material losses were estimated at nearly two million and 400 thousand dinars, according to the Interior Ministry's report, indicating that Libya is experiencing a frightening escalation in traffic accidents during the past years for many reasons, most notably recklessness and high-speed driving.

The ministry called on all citizens to respect traffic rules and do more to reduce road accidents.
