Scores of families from Misalata city east of Tripoli were forced -in recent years- to give up their homes and lands for turning it into a gravel pit.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed Monday that the displaced families reclaimed their lands after the law enforcement force evacuated the area, in cooperation with the Agricultural Police.

"This operation came upon the Public Prosecutor's instructions after the defendants expelled 62 families from their farms and lands by force of arms during the past years," the ministry said in a statement on Facebook.

It also stressed that the perpetrators who are on the run would be prosecuted and arrested based on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor in particular.
