The Ministry of Interior has arrested a man wanted in connection to the capsizing of a boat used for illegal migration known as the "Egyptian village of Talbana".

It explained that the man, nicknamed "Abu Samra" is a key suspect in the case, confirming that he was caught in Zuwara city and is now in the hands of the Criminal Investigations Bureau of the Western Border Region.

The defendant -who is of Egyptian nationality- is facing charges related to the drowning of 11 people. They were on board a boat carrying more than 70 irregular migrants, most of whom were Egyptians, according to the Interior Ministry.

It confirmed that the Libyan Coast Guard managed to rescue the rest of the migrants on board the boat, underscoring that it will go after all human traffickers and those behind them.
