The Interior Ministry announced its readiness to secure and protect the coming municipal council elections.

The ministry clarified that it had tasked the General Directorate of Security Operations to follow up the security process for securing the local government elections, under the direct supervision of its Election Protection and Insurance Department.

"The ministry is impartial and unaffected by any political disputes and its work will be limited solely to securing polling stations, ballot boxes, supervisory committees and voters," the ministry stressed via its Information Office.
